Charley-Sian Ta Davison also known as Charley Davison is a professional British Olympic athlete and Boxer who stands at 5 feet 2 inches. Davison was previously selected for Tokyo Olympics but that didn’t go well so she is now competing in Upcoming Olympics in Paris 2024.
Davison Punches Ticket to Paris 2024 Olympics
British boxer Charley-Sian Ta Davison has qualified for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics after a strong showing at the recent Boxing Road to Paris Qualification Tournament in Poland.
Charley had previously competed at the 2020 Tokyo Games but finished a disappointing 9th place.
“I am so happy; this is a dream coming true. I had already competed in Tokyo, and it didn’t go so well there as I was inexperienced. But this time is different, I have worked hard, the experience is there, now, I believe in myself, now.”

She will face a tough test in the semifinals against Bulgaria’s Stanimira Petrova, who dominated her own qualifying match.

Davison was born on January 11, 1994, in Blackpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom. She was born to her parents Mark Taylor who is a Fisherman.

British boxer Charley Davison is not just an Olympic athlete, but also a dedicated mother of three children. Davison is happily married to her husband, Bruce, and they have two sons – Arnell, 11, (born on April 7, 2012), Armani, 10, (born on February 7, 2014), and Amir, 8, (born on February 11, 2016).
Davison’s eldest child, Arnell, frequently discusses his mother’s boxing career at school according to his proud mom. Meanwhile, her youngest son Amir may also follow in her footsteps as he already enjoys play fighting with his older brother despite the age difference.

Her children actively cheer her on at competitions when they get the chance to attend.
“The youngest one always says to her, ‘Make sure you win!’ when she is just training,” Davison remarked. “He doesn’t understand yet.” While they have not seen her spar, her oldest son Arnell has watched “bits and bobs” on some of his trips to see his mother train in the gym.

British boxer Charley Davison’s pugilistic journey began at just 8 years old, learning on pads at home from her father, Mark. However, her local gym, Triple A, refused to accept her as a member due to her being female.

After rising up the ranks as one of Britain’s top young boxers, Davison stepped away from the sport at age 19 upon getting pregnant with her first child, Arnell. She took a 5-year break from boxing to focus on motherhood.
Many discounted Davison’s chances of returning to elite competition after such a long layoff and now having a family. But with steadfast support from her partner Bruce, Davison was determined to make a comeback. She only got back into the gym “to lose a bit of weight”.

Davison swiftly rediscovered her world-class ability, winning a silver medal at the 2019 European Olympic Qualification Tournament. Later that year, she captured the English national amateur championship in the -54kg division.

Davison’s father, Mark, has been intensely supportive since her return to boxing as well. After matches, he greets her with hugs and congratulations. Even her qualification for the Olympics made him to tears – recalling how he “didn’t think she would come back.”

After qualifying to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, She scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over Moroccan boxer Rabab Cheddar to open the tournament.
In the second round, Davison faced her toughest test yet against Chinese No. 2 seed Yuan Chang. She appeared to gain momentum late, stunning Chang with a powerful left hand that knocked her down. However, in a controversial split decision, the judges awarded Chang the victory.
Davison continued displaying her world-class talent by reaching the finals of the 2020 European Olympic Qualification Tournament. She defeated Italy’s Giordana Sorrentino in the semis before dropping another close split decision to Turkey’s Buse Naz Çakıroğlu.

Most recently at the 2023 European Games, Davison captured bronze in the 54kg division to formally qualify for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. After coming tantalizingly close to the podium in Tokyo, she now sets her sights firmly on gold in Paris.
