Emily Scott, a 17-year-old Australian sport climber from Canberry, qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris after winning bronze in the Oceania Qualifier.

The Australian climber Emily Scott has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics after an impressive showing at the Oceania Qualifying event.
On November 26th, she took part in the IFSC Oceania Qualifier held in Melbourne, Australia in the Boulder & Lead Women’s category. In the semifinals, she scored 94.0 points, and in the finals, she scored 129.1 points, finishing in 3rd position. With this result, she surpassed fellow Australian climber Roxy Perry.
However, Emily could not outperform the top two climbers, Oceana Mackenzie and Maya Stasiuk. Oceana scored 199.9 points in the finals and 184.8 in the semifinals, while Maya scored 155.7 in the finals and 138.6 in the semifinals. These scores secured Olympic spots for Oceana and Maya, With Emily’s third-place finish, she joined Oceana Mackenzie and Maya Stasiuk as the Australian climbers who will go to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Emily Scott’s Early Life
Emily Scott was born in 2006 in Canberra, Australia. She is now a teenager. Several years ago, Emily found her love for climbing at a birthday party.
For her higher education, Emily went to the University of Wollongong. She finished a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, and Professional Writing at this university. Before that, Emily attended Albury High School.
In addition to her studies, Emily has earned a certificate to work as a barista. She has also had a job as a waitress in the past. Currently, Emily works at the front desk of 9 Degrees Indoor Climbing Gym.
Emily Climbing Career So far
On June 26, 2022, Emily finished in 87th position at the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria. This was in the Lead Women’s category. On July 2, 2022, she finished 70th at the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Villars, Switzerland, also in the Lead Women’s category.
On July 10, 2022, Emily took 75th place at the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Chamonix, France, in the Lead Women’s event. Emily on September 1, 2022, finished 42nd at the IFSC Climbing Youth World Championships in Dallas, USA, in the Boulder Youth Female category. At the same event, she finished 32nd in the Lead Youth A Female category.
On April 23, 2023, Emily secured 72nd position at the IFSC World Cup in Hachioji, Japan, in the Boulder Women’s category. On April 30, 2023, she had her best result of 6th place at the IFSC World Cup in Seoul, South Korea, in the Boulder Women’s event. She also took part in the IFSC World Cup in Villars, Switzerland, in the Lead Women’s category.
Most recently, on November 26, 2023, Emily finished in 3rd position at the IFSC Oceania Qualifier in Melbourne, Australia. This was in the combined Boulder & Lead Women’s category, which secured her spot for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
