Federal Ammunition is congratulating their sponsored shooter Derrick Mein for earning a spot on the 2024 USA Men’s Trap Shooting Team that will compete at the summer Olympic games in Paris. Mein performed exceptionally well during the Shotgun Selection Match held from March 11-17 at the Tucson Trap and Skeet Club in Tucson, Arizona, which secured his place on the team.

It’s always good to have my wife, daughter and parents by my side while competing,” “Shooting 250 targets alongside everyone else that is in the running to make the team makes it feel like a 250 target shoot-off. The Paris Olympics will be Mein’s second appearance on the world’s biggest stage. In his Olympic debut in Tokyo, he finished 24th in the men’s trap event and secured 13th position alongside Kayle Browning in the mixed-gender team event. Since the Tokyo Olympics, Derrick Mein has won the World Championship in 2022 and many other titles. He is eager to compete again in the Olympic arena.

Derrick Scott Mein was born on August 26, 1985, in Girard, Kansas, United States. His current place of residence is not specified. He is 5 feet 11 inches (180 cm) tall. Mein’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family.
Mein grew up on a small farm in southeast Kansas, and from a young age, he developed a deep love for the outdoors. He went with his father on quail and deer hunting trips, which kindled his interest in shooting sports.
Mein’s talent in shooting sports earned him a scholarship to Lindenwood University. During his time there, he held dual scholarships for baseball and the shotgun team. After a couple of years, he transferred to Kansas State University to pursue a degree in Animal Science, which he obtained in 2008. While at KSU, Mein won the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championship, a format that includes international trap, international skeet, American skeet, American trap, and sporting clays.
After completing his college education, Mein moved to Ohio, where he designed and managed the Cardinal Center Sporting Clays facility. Once he successfully established the facility, he seized the opportunity to move closer to his home and took over the management of Powder Creek Shooting Park in Lenexa, Kansas. Mein earned a degree in Animal Science and Industry from Kansas State University.

At the age of eight, Mein began participating in sporting clays, joining his father in a small league at a local club, where he started honing his skills as a competitive shooter.
In 2015, Derrick Mein won the title of the Nad Al Sheba Desert Shooting Champion, proving his shooting skills.
In 2016, Mein achieved the 2016 World FITASC Championship title, which took place in Italy. This showcased his outstanding abilities and his capability to compete at a global level.
In 2017, Mein was named the NSCA National Champion, further highlighting his exceptional skills in the field and establishing his prominence in the sport. That same year, he also secured the High Over All (HOA) title at the National Sporting Clays Championships, underscoring his prowess in this discipline.
In 2018, Mein secured the World All-Around Champion title, demonstrating his exceptional skills and ability to compete at the highest levels of the sport. He also won the US FITASC Grand Prix Championship in the same year.

He also clinched the Gold medal in Men’s Trap at the 2022 World Championship, underscoring his skill and dedication to the sport. At the 2022 Baku World Cup, he secured a silver medal in the Men’s Trap Team category. In the same year, he won a Bronze medal at the Lima World Cup in the Men’s Trap category and a Gold medal in the Men’s Trap Team category.
In 2023, Mein achieved another remarkable feat by winning the Gold medal at the ISSF World Championship in the Men’s Trap Team category. He also secured a Silver medal in the Mixed Trap Team category.
