Michael Grady, a former rower at Cornell University who graduated in 2019, along with the other members of the U.S. men’s coxless four team, won the silver medal at the 2023 World Rowing Championships held on Saturday at the Ada Ciganlija regatta course on Sava Lake. Grady’s team consisted of Liam Corrigan, Nick Mead, and Justin Best. They completed the event with a time of 6 minutes 06.37 seconds, which was 2.02 seconds behind the first-place team from Great Britain (6 minutes 04.35 seconds). The bronze medal was won by New Zealand with a time of 6 minutes 08.44 seconds.

Michael Grady was born on October 22, 1996, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. His parents are John and Tracy Grady. He has two sisters named Kylie Grady and Mady Grady, and one brother. Michael is tall, measuring 1.98 meters (6 feet 6 inches) in height, and weighs 91 kilograms (201 pounds).

For high school, Michael attended Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He participated in rowing and earned three varsity letters in the sport, serving as the team captain in his senior year. After high school, he went to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating in 2019. At Cornell, he studied Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Currently, Michael is a member of the US Rowing Training Center in Oakland, where he is coached by Mike Teti and Tim McLaren.
