In 2021, Mead was a part of the U.S. eight-rowing team that finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics. Mead attended Episcopal Academy for his high school education. Later, he went to Princeton University, where he studied History and graduated in 2017.
Mead was always winning medals in his Early Start
In 2012, Mead came second in the four coxswain events at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Championships.
In 2013, he finished seventh in the men’s US 8+ at the World Rowing Junior Championships. He also won first place in the four with coxswain at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships in the 4+ event. Mead was the team captain at Episcopal Academy that year. He received the Mind Body Spirit Prize in 2012 and 2013, earned the 2013 Oar Award, a varsity letter in football, and the Class of 1877 Award for Scholarship, Character, and Athletics.

In 2014, Mead rowed and helped his 2V boat win a silver medal at the IRA National Championships, which was the best 2V finish since 2000. His 2V boat won silver at the Eastern Sprints too, going 8-2 that year and winning the last four races.
In 2015, rowing in the 6 seat, Mead helped Princeton’s V8 boat win bronze at the IRA Championships, Princeton’s first V8 medal there since 2006. He also won bronze at the Eastern Sprints. Mead helped Princeton win the Rowe Cup team points title for the first time since 2005. Mead helped Princeton reclaim the Compton Cup over Harvard for the first time since 2006. He won the Navy-Princeton Rowing Cup, Childs Cup and Content Cup, and earned Academic All-IRA honors.
Mead’s Career After 2015
In 2016, Mead finished 10th in the eighth event at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. He placed third in the varsity eight at the IRA National Championships.
In 2017, Mead became the team captain. He won bronze in the 1V at Eastern Sprints and helped the 1V reach the IRA Championships grand final, where they topped California and finished fourth. Mead earned IRA All-Academic honors and helped the 1V retain the Navy-Princeton Rowing Cup, Childs Cup, and Content Cup.
In 2018, Mead secured 13th position in the four events at the World Rowing Championships.

In 2019, Mead finished fifth in the Men’s Eight Final A event at the World Rowing Championships in the M8+ class, with a time of 05:23.92. He also won the pair event at the National Selection Regatta that year.
In 2020, at the Tokyo Olympic Games, Mead secured fourth position in the Men’s Eight Final A in the M8+ class, with a time of 05:26.75.
