Chloe Dygert is an American cyclist born in Indiana, her parents divorced when she was three years old and she was raised by her father and brothers. She took up cycling in her teens, quickly rising to win a 2016 Olympic silver medal.

Chloe Dygert was born on January 1st, 1997 in Brownsburg, Indiana. Her parents were Gretchen Nichols and David Dygert. She also had two brothers – an older brother named Gunner and a younger brother named Daniel.
Unfortunately, Dygert’s parents divorced when she was very young, just 3 years old. After the split, Chloe and her brothers were raised primarily by their father David Dygert.
Dygert maintains close ties with her mother, father, and siblings. Her older brother Gunner had been a collegiate cyclist, likely an inspiration for Chloe’s cycling career. Meanwhile, my younger brother Daniel developed a passion for competitive auto racing.

In November 2016, Chloe married professional cyclist Logan Owen. She even took his last name for a while. However, the marriage ended just a few years later in January 2020. Currently, Logan’s ex-wife, Chloe, doesn’t seem to be dating anyone.
Chloe’s ex-husband Logan continues to compete professionally with the UCI WorldTeam EF Education-Nippo cycling squad.

Logan Owen, born on March 25th, 1995, is an acclaimed American professional cyclocross racer. Raised in Bremerton, Washington by parents Steven and Kim alongside older brother Brandon, Owen found his passion for cycling at a very young age. When he was just 5 years old, he began testing out Redline Bicycle’s new titanium BMX frames, showing a prodigious talent on two wheels.
By 2013, at age 18, Owen had already collected an astounding 10 consecutive national championships in cyclocross racing, earning the title “Boy Wonder of Cyclocross” for his meteoric rise in the sport.
In November 2016, Owen married fellow professional cyclist Chloe Dygert, then known as Chloe Nichols, following her silver medal performance for the United States in track team pursuit at the Rio Olympics.
However, the relationship was short-lived, as the two divorced in January 2020 after just over 3 years of marriage. He has been dating a new partner. The athlete is currently in a relationship with Shenaya Birkel.
Chloe wins Gold at the 2023 World Championships and Qualify for Paris Olympics 2024
In a dramatic comeback three years after a devastating crash, American cyclist Chloé Dygert captured the gold medal in the road time trial event at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.
Dygert’s victory comes after she suffered career-threatening leg injuries in a high-speed crash during the same event in 2020. She had to recover both physically and mentally from extensive surgeries.
Her first-place finish also secured Olympic qualification points as Dygert sets her sights on the 2024 Paris Games. Chloe Dygert begins her road towards the Olympic Games at the Santos Tour Down in Australia.
Chloe Dygert Crash that Nearly Ended Her Career
In September 2020, Chloe Dygert suffered a crash at the World Championships road time trial event. She lost control at high speed and collided devastating leg injuries that required multiple surgeries.
Chloe Dygert’s career could have ended when the American cyclist had been racing for a world championship with an eye on Olympic gold before colliding with a guardrail and sustaining devastating leg injuries. Dygert needed several rounds of surgery to repair the damage. She was waylaid by the Epstein-Barr virus, which left her fighting extreme fatigue. She had heart surgery last fall to treat supraventricular tachycardia, an irregularly fast heartbeat. And this spring, another training crash took her off the bike again.
“What I physically had to go through for the injury itself, then mentally what I had to go through — all the personal things I won’t go into — my life at times did not matter to me,”

Despite all adversity, just nine months after her initial wreck, Dygert returned to racing by competing at the 2021 Olympic Games. But in hindsight she acknowledges attempting such an ambitious comeback so soon was a mistake.
“My body was far from being anywhere close to being competitive,That was obvious.”

Chloe Dygert’s Early to Professional Journey
She was athletic from a young age, mainly playing basketball. Chole’s injuries forced her to give up that sport by 2013, but a few years after by 2015 she began focusing more seriously on cycling. Chloe quickly rose to success in cycling at a very young age. She won national junior titles in 2015 and then became a two-time Junior World Champion. From there she earned invites to compete with senior national teams.
After focusing more seriously on developing as a competitive cyclist, Dygert was on the national scene in 2015. That year she claimed junior national titles in both road race and individual time trial disciplines.
Chloe Dygert as a youth rider quickly transformed into a senior-level. She was named to the 2016 Olympics at just 19 years old, But Dygert was just getting started. She added two more world champion titles in 2017, and in 2018. That year she set not one but two world records in individual pursuit at the World Championships.
Along the way, Dygert also continued claiming Pan-American and national-level honors across road, track, and time trials.
Professional Journey so far
Chloe Dygert’s first major honor came at just 19 years old when she was named to the 2016 US Olympic cycling team where she won a silver medal in the team pursuit. This early Olympic success marked the starting point for Dygert’s rapid rise to the top tiers of international cycling.

She helped lead the American squad to team pursuit rainbow jerseys in 2017 and 2018. Not only did she set two world records while claiming individual pursuit gold, but she also showed her versatility in Pan American Championship winning on the road and in time trials. By 2019, barely past her 22nd birthday, Dygert had already collected over 10 world-level championship titles and counting.
In addition, Dygert has earned considerable prize money from contract salaries, race results, and medal bonuses. U.S. Olympic Committee payouts meant $22,500 alone for that 2016 silver in Rio.
