Emily Kallfelz, age 27, is a well-known Elite rower from the United States, she is qualified for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024.

Three members of the Princeton Women’s Open Rowing Team will represent the United States Olympic Team in the Summer Olympics in Paris, France in 2024.
The team’s members, Claire Collins ’19, Emily Kallfelz ’19, and Kelsey Reelick ’14, will compete in either the eight or four boats this summer.
Emily Kallfelz Parents, Brithdate, Family, Education, and High School
Emily Kallfelz was born on April 5, 1997, in Jamestown, Rhode Island. She is the daughter of Andrew and Julie Kallfelz, both of whom were elite canoeists and walked onto the rowing team at Cornell University.
Emily has a younger sister named Eliza Kallfelz, who is also a canoeist. The two sisters used to push each other to improve their canoeing skills, as they both love the sport. Eliza has also competed in various competitions and has many medals and titles to her name.
Emily completed her high school education at St. George’s High School. Outside of the water, she enjoys sailing, playing the piano, and soccer. She is currently studying Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton University.
When did Emily’s younger Eliza Kallfelz start her Rowing career?
Eliza Kallfelz, the younger sister of Emily Kallfelz, began rowing in May 2014, though she had been interested in canoeing since November 2013 because of her parents’ involvement in the sport.
As a high school junior, Eliza made her debut in the 2014 Crash-B, an indoor rowing event, where she placed eighth. Later that year, she competed in the 4x at the Junior World Championships and won a bronze medal.
Once Eliza got on the water, she had a lot of fun and ended up competing for the U.S. at the 2014 World Junior Championships, where she placed seventh as the stroke of the quadruple sculls. She also won the 2014 Head of the Charles in the single and set a course record. Additionally, she won the 2014 Northeast Regionals in the single, took third at Youth Nationals, and placed eighth at the 2014 Crash-B’s.

In 2015, Eliza won the Youth Nationals in both singles and doubles, with her sister Emily, setting an all-time doubles national record. Eliza also had success at the U-23 level, finishing fourth in the double sculls in 2016 and winning a bronze medal in the quadruple sculls at the World Rowing Junior Championships in 2015.
During her time at Princeton University, Eliza was a two-time USRowing U-23 Female Athlete of the Year, two-time All-American, and four-time All-Ivy rower, helping the Tigers win three Ivy League titles. She was also a member of the Chinese Honor Society and received the 2015 School Athletics Award.
Eliza’s Journey to the USA National Team
Eliza Kallfelz had a successful journey to the USA National Team. She was named US Rowing’s U23 Athlete of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.
In 2018, as the senior co-captain of the Princeton open rowing team, Eliza led the Tigers to their third straight Ivy League championship. She then helped Princeton achieve a top-5 finish at the NCAA Championships in the 1V final, which was the program’s best result since 2013.
Eliza earned First-Team All-America honors for her junior season. She followed that up by winning the 1x final at the U-23 Trials, earning her a second straight spot on the USA team. After winning bronze in the 1x final the previous year, Eliza moved up a spot on the medal podium and took silver in the 2018 U-23 World Championships in Poland.
In the fall of 2018, Eliza became the inaugural winner of the USRowing Under-23 Female Athlete of the Year, selected by the athletes and coaches of the team that competed at the 2018 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Poznan, Poland.
In 2019, at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships, Eliza, as a member of the U.S. national team, dominated her heat of the Women’s single, finishing over seven seconds ahead of the runner-up from Italy.
Emily Kallfelz Career After 2020
Emily Kallfelz, after missing some time due to injury, earned a spot on the 2022 Senior National Team, which represents the U.S. at the highest level of international competition.
In 2022, Emily, who was part of the Cambridge Boat Club, won the women’s singles championship at the Head of the Charles Regatta. She outperformed Olympic champion Emma Twigg, despite starting 20th out of 25 entrants. This victory was a comeback for Emily, who had missed the previous year’s race due to a back injury.

Emily has also had success on the international stage. In 2023, she placed 11th in the quadruple sculls at the World Rowing Championships. Additionally, she finished fifth in the double sculls and seventh in the quadruple sculls at the 2023 World Rowing Cup II, which helped her qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This will be Emily’s first senior national team appearance, after earning three consecutive medals at the U23 World Championships in the Women’s Single.
Currently, Emily is training at her club in Boston, Massachusetts. The rowing events at the 2024 Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 4, while the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, including the Para rowing events, will be held from August 28 to September 8.
