Kyle Frederick Snyder, born on November 20, 1995, is an American freestyle wrestler and graduate folkstyle wrestler competing at 97 kg. He is the youngest Olympic gold medalist and World Champion in American wrestling history. He has also qualified for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Snyder defeated Isaac Trumble in two straight matches at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials held at Bryce Jordan Center. This achievement secured his spot to represent the United States in the 97-kilogram men’s freestyle wrestling competition at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. This will be Snyder’s third appearance at the Olympic Games. Despite being only 28 years old, his performance was typical of his accomplished senior-level career.

Kyle Snyder began Wrestling when he was just five years of age
Snyder began wrestling at the age of five. In his first three years of high school at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland, he achieved an impressive record of 179 wins and 0 losses. He won three national prep championships during this time and only gave up a single takedown. Both Intermat and ASICS named him the national high school wrestler of the year.
During his gold medal match, Snyder was coached by two former World Champions: Bill Zadick of the Iowa Hawkeyes. After his junior season, FloWrestling ranked Snyder as the #1 pound-for-pound high school wrestler in America. He spent his senior year training at the United States Olympic Training Center.

Snyder started his collegiate wrestling career at Ohio State University. He helped the team win an NCAA championship by finishing as the runner-up to Iowa State’s Kyven Gadson, a fifth-year senior, in the national finals.
In 2011, Snyder won the Maryland State Division I 215 lbs tournament, Cadet (Greco Roman) 96 kg event, and Cadet 96 kg competition.

At the spring of 2014, he represented Team USA as the youngest member of the Beat the Streets All-Star team. He wrestled alongside Americans with NCAA titles and Olympic golds like David Taylor, Brent Metcalf, and Jordan Burroughs.
