Leanne Wong, is a 20 years old well-known American Gymnast who competed in the World Championship teams in 2022, 2023, and the 2019 Pan American Games, all of which won gold medals. She was an alternate for the 2020 Olympic squad and won the silver medal in the world all-around competition in 2021. Now she is qualified for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris 2024.

Leanne Wong was born on September 20, 2003, in Overland Park, Kansas. She has two younger brothers, Michael and Brendan. Her father Marco Wong is a doctor and scientist, holding an MD and a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology. Her mother Bee also has an advanced science degree, a PhD in pharmacology. Leanne’s parents worked together in the same research lab when she was young.

Leanne graduated from Blue Valley High School and now attends the University of Florida as a pre-med student. She also owns her own business on the side. Her parents have encouraged and helped Leanne every step of the way in her passions.
Leanne Wong is Qualified for 2024 Paris Olympics
Leanne Wong, who won the silver medal in the all-around competition at the 2021 World Championships, has qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. After delivering an impressive performance at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Wong booked her spot on the plane to Paris along with her American teammates.
Wong took a step this year by shining at the 2023 US Classic and USA Gymnastics Championships. This gave her momentum heading into Worlds, which were held in Belgium. By cutting this high-stakes global competition, Wong officially qualified for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Wong will look to bring her A-game to the big stage in Paris next summer. Her goal will be to challenge for gold and use all of her skills, talent, and experience to try to medal at the event.

Leanne’s gymnastics career began at age 5 when she started ice skating but did not enjoy falling on the hard ice. Her father then saw Olympic coach Al Fong on TV and took Leanne to his GAGE gym, just 45 minutes from their home.
In 2016, at her first major competition, Leanne placed 7th on vault at the Junior Olympic National Championships. The next year, her results improved dramatically, she won the all-around and vault at the American Classic meet.

At the 2017 P&G Championships, Leanne was the vault champion and placed top 5 in other events. Her success rose up in 2018 when she won all-around and event titles at the U.S. Classic and U.S. Championships in the junior division. Leanne firmly established herself as a rising star. Throughout her early career, Leanne gained experience and demonstrated her talents across all apparatuses – vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.
Leanne Professional career so far
Leanne made her senior debut in 2019 as a 15-year-old and immediately found success. She won the American Cup all-around title that year. Additionally, in 2019, Leanne helped the U.S. team capture the Pan American Games title and took individual silver on bars. She also collected bronze medals at the U.S. Championships on beam and floor exercises. Though not yet age-eligible for the Olympics or Worlds, Leanne’s skills were world-class.
Leanne was named an alternate for the 2020 Olympic team but did not compete due to her age. In 2021, she took the senior international stage by storm at the World Championships, winning all-around and floor-exercise silver medals along with making the beam final. On the NCAA scene for Florida in 2022, Leanne contributed to their runner-up finish and won national bars gold at the U.S Championships.
Heading into the 2022 Worlds, Leanne was battling an ankle injury but fought through the pain to compete and help the U.S. squad repeat as world team champions. The next year, Leanne continued her team’s success by helping the U.S. win another world title in 2023. Individually, she reached the vault finals and captured all-around bronze nationally. For Florida, Leanne helped them earn NCAA team silver and won an individual silver herself on floor exercise.
With her American teammates, Wong secured her seat on the plane to Paris with an outstanding performance in the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship.
