American rower Liam Corrigan represented the United States in the men’s eight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, placing fourth overall. Corrigan participated in the Oxford squad that won the boat race in 2022. Additionally, he placed second in the 2023 World Rowing Championships’ (Four – Men) division. and earned a spot at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Liam Corrigan qualifies for the Paris Olympics 2024
Liam Corrigan, who graduated from Lyme-Old Lyme High School in 2014, has been chosen to represent the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games this summer. On March 25, the governing body for rowing in the US announced the first 21 athletes who will be part of the US team. Liam Corrigan, along with his crew members, came second at the World Championships held in Belgrade. Because of this, they were selected to represent the United States in the Men’s Four event at the Paris Olympic Games.
The crew will compete at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in May. Here, they will have a chance to secure a spot at the Paris Olympics. They qualified for this event after finishing second in the Men’s Four event at the 2023 World Rowing Championships with a time of 06:06.37. They also finished third in the Men’s Four event at the 2023 World Rowing Cup II with a time of 05:48.91.
This is the second time Corrigan has been part of the US Rowing team. He was a member of the Men’s Eight team that finished fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Another graduate from the same high school, Austin Hack from the Class of 2010, was also part of that team.
Corrigan has already Graduated and Earned a Master’s Degree
Liam Corrigan was born on September 11, 1997, in Old Lyme, Connecticut, United States. His parents, Brian Corrigan and Joan Rivington, now live in Lyme, Connecticut, after being residents of Old Lyme for several years. Liam is tall, standing at 6 feet 5 inches (195 cm), and weighs 205 pounds (92 kg). His hobbies include playing and listening to music, reading Russian literature, and rock climbing.
Corrigan graduated from Harvard University with an honors degree in Physics and Astrophysics. While at Harvard, he was the captain of the men’s crew team. After graduating, he moved to Oakland, California, to train with the men’s training center for the upcoming Olympics. He is a member of the California Rowing Club. Liam enjoys playing and listening to music, as well as reading Russian literature and rock climbing.
In 2022, Corrigan earned a master’s degree in financial economics from Oxford University. He plays bass guitar, guitar, and trumpet. He began rowing at the Old Lyme Rowing Association/Blood Street Sculls and later rowed for Harvard University. After graduating, he moved to Oakland, California, to train with the men’s training center for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Liam Corrigan Started rowing in his Early High School Days
He started rowing during his freshman year of high school after being encouraged by the junior varsity basketball coach, who was also the head rowing coach at Lyme-Old Lyme High School.
Corrigan finished eighth in the pair event at the Youth Olympic Games and ninth in the Men’s Eight event at the World Rowing Junior Championships 2014.
In 2015, he secured fifth position in the Men’s Four events at the World Rowing Junior Championships and won a Silver Medal in the Men’s Four with coxswain at the USRowing Youth National Championships.
In 2016, Corrigan won the second varsity Men’s Eight event at the IRA National Championships. He was the stroke rower for the second varsity crew during their undefeated season and won the Eastern Sprints title. He also won the IRA National Title, the first for Harvard since 2007.

In 2017, Corrigan finished fourth in the pair event at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships and won the pair event at the Under 23 World Championships Trials. He secured third place in the varsity Men’s Eight at the IRA National Championships.
In 2019, Corrigan finished seventh in the Men’s Four event at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships and third in the varsity Men’s Eight at the IRA National Championships. He was named to the IRA All-Academic Team. He rowed in the four-seat of the varsity eight against Yale, at the IRA National Championships, Eastern Sprints, and in wins over Northeastern, Navy, Penn, Princeton, Brown, Cornell, and George Washington.
How Corrigan has represented the US on an international Stage
In 2020, Corrigan finished fourth in the Men’s Eight event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the Final A race of the M8+ class with a time of 05:26.75. He also won the pair event at the 2020 National Selection Regatta.
In 2022, Corrigan secured fourth place in the Men’s Eight events at the World Rowing Championships in the Final A race of the M8+ class with a time of 05:29.20. In the same year, he earned a master’s degree in financial economics from Oxford University.
In 2023, Corrigan finished second in the Men’s Four event at the World Rowing Championships in the Final A race of the M4- class with a time of 06:06.37. He also secured third place in the Men’s Four event at the World Rowing Cup II. Corrigan won the pair event at the USRowing National Selection Regatta and the USRowing Winter Speed Order in 2023.
