Monique Suraci, commonly known as Slique, is a 23-year-old Australian boxer who won gold at the 2018 Oceania Youth Championships and went on to become the 52 kg Australian Champion as well as the best female boxer of the 2022 Australian Championship.
She also won her qualifying match in the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands, which allowed her to qualify for the Olympics in Paris in the women’s 50 kg division.

Monique Suraci, a 22-year-old boxer from Queanbeyan, has secured her place in the upcoming Paris Olympics after defeating Tasmyn Benny from New Zealand in a qualifying bout at the Pacific Games held in the Solomon Islands. Despite her young age, Monique is a boxer whose skills and determination have earned her this opportunity.
“I’m still wrapping my head around it, It hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but I’m not satisfied by qualifying; I want to win gold at the Olympics in Paris.”

Monique Suraci’s Early Years with Her Siz Sisters
Monique Suraci, also known as Slique, was born on January 12, 2001, in Canberra, Capital Territory, Australia. Currently, she lives in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia. She is 5 feet 2 inches (157 centimeters) tall and weighs 52 kilograms.
Monique was born to her father Vince and mother Rosa Sergi. She has six sisters named Maria Louise Suraci, Celine Suraci, Sabrina Suraci, Brooklyn Suraci, and others. Her family, including her parents and sisters, have been very supportive of her boxing career. Their support has played a big part in her success, and Monique is grateful for the encouragement she receives from her family and colleagues at Hayman Partners, where she works as a receptionist.
For her high school education, Monique attended St Mary MacKillop College Canberra. Her senior club is Stockade Training Centre, ACT, and she is coached by Garry Hamilton.
The sport has provided her with many great opportunities, and she wishes to give back to the community through coaching. She is passionate about boxing, and her passion and dedication inspire her students to push themselves and do their best in her classes.
Monique Suraci Begen her boxing career at the age of 10
Monique’s interest in boxing started when she was just six years old in 2007, and she began participating in competitions at the age of 10. Since she was a young child, her dream has been to represent Australia in boxing at the Olympic Games
In 2017, Monique won a total of 3 fights. At the Melbourne Park tournament held in Melbourne, Victoria, she defeated boxer A Doka. She also won against Brittany Roll and R Brunker in a tournament held in Canberra, ACT, in the 50kg weight category.
The following year, in 2018, after winning the Australian Youth National Boxing Championships, Monique was chosen to represent Australia at the 2018 Youth Oceania Championships. She returned home with the gold medal.
After her victory at the Oceania Championships, Monique then competed at the 2018 Youth Women’s & Men’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. There, she faced the best young amateur boxers from around the world.
In 2019, Monique participated in a total of four fights, two of which were exhibition bouts. She defeated Tyla Mcdonald at the Werribee tournament in Victoria. However, she lost to E Crilly at the PCYC Erindale tournament, both fights in the 50kg weight class.
In 2020, Monique took part in the ACT Boxing tournament, where she defeated boxer T Campbell in the 50kg category.
Monique Suraci Recent years in the Olympics
In 2021, Monique took part in two fights at the Australian Club Championships held in Morphettville, South Australia. There she defeated boxers S Simpson and Leamishellezen Macatangay.
The following year, in 2022, Monique became the 52kg Australian Champion and was recognized as the best female boxer at the Australian Championships. This victory qualified her to represent Australia in the women’s 50kg division at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
In 2023, Monique participated in a total of 16 fights, winning 13 of them. At the Bocskai István Memorial International tournament in Debrecen, she defeated Yerkezhan Dauletzhanyzy, Nikola Prymaczenko, and Svitlana Umanska. She also won against boxers Anna Olczak and Romane Moulai at the XXXVII Feliks Stamm Tournament held in Warsaw, all in the 50kg category.

Later that same year, Monique defeated April Napthine and Alexus Taylor-Davis at the Australian Elite Championship & Pacific Games Qualification 2023 tournament in Perth, Western Australia, in the 50kg division. She then went on to defeat Emma Jokikho and Romane Moulai at the World Boxing Cup 2023 held in Cologne, also in the 50kg category.
In 2024, Monique has participated in three fights so far. At the Canberra International 2024 tournament held in Australia, she won by defeating Caroline Almeida in the 50kg weight class.
