American rower Regina Salmons was born on April 21, 1997. She participated in the 2020 Summer Olympics in the women’s eight event. She qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and earned the Silver Medal at the World Rowing Championships in 2023.

Regina Salmons has earned a spot on the United States rowing team for the Paris Olympics 2024. She is one of 13 rowers chosen for either the women’s four or women’s eight-boat events, but it is not decided yet which specific boat she will race in.

Her silver medal performance at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in the women’s eight final race, with a time of 6 minutes 3.73 seconds, qualified her for the Olympic event. A selection camp in March determined which rowers would fill the boats for the Paris Olympics, and Regina Salmons was selected to be part of the group for the women’s four or eight events.

Regina Salmons was born on April 21, 1997, in Methuen, Massachusetts, United States of America. She is tall, standing at 1.85 meters (6 feet 1 inch), and weighs 180 pounds (81 kilograms).

Regina went to the Derryfield School. She is grateful to her high school coach Brian Brunelle and her home rowing club Amoskeag for helping her love the sport of rowing and supporting her. In 2018, she finished her studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned honors for her thesis in creative writing and was the editor-in-chief of a feminist literary magazine on campus.

Regina enjoys writing poetry. During college, she was the editor-in-chief of the feminist literary and arts magazine called “The F-word” and led the poetry workshop group “The Body Electric” named after a Walt Whitman poem. She admires her parents for their great love and determination and wants to grow up to be as kind, strong, and persistent as they are.

In 2017 and 2018, Regina won the Scholar-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) for maintaining above a 3.5 GPA and participating in more than 75% of varsity rowing races those years. She was also selected for the 2018 All-Ivy First Team.

How Regina Salmons Started Her Career in Rowing

In 2015, Salmons won the gold medal in the intermediate four with coxswain event at the USRowing Club National Championships.

In 2016, Salmons earned gold medals in both the four and eight events at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships.

In 2018, as a college athlete, Salmons was the senior captain and rowed in Penn’s Varsity Eight team, which finished third at the Ivy League Championships that year. Also in 2018, she earned first-team honors from both the All-Ivy and the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Conference. She also won the gold medal in the pair event at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships.

In 2019, Regina served as an alternate at the World Rowing Championships. She also secured the fifth position in the four events at the World Rowing Cup II that year.

In 2020, Regina finished fourth in the women’s eight event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Her time in the Women’s Eight Final A race in the W8+ class was 6 minutes 2.78 seconds.

In 2022, Regina took fourth place in the eight events at the World Rowing Championships. She also reached the semifinals of The Remenham Challenge Cup in the eighth event at the Henley Royal Regatta that year. Additionally, she finished fourth in the pair event at the World Rowing Cup II in 2022.

In 2023, Regina won the silver medal, finishing second in the women’s eight event at the World Rowing Championships. Her time in the Women’s Eight Final A in the W8+ class was 6 minutes and 3.73 seconds. She also took fourth place in the pair event at the US Rowing National Selection Regatta. Furthermore, Regina finished fifth in the pair event at the USRowing Winter Speed Order competition in 2023.
