Born on August 16, 1993, in Woodland, Maddalena moved to Tuolumne County at age 6 with her supportive parents Randy and Susan Maddalena, as well as older siblings Marty who is a Natural Resource Management. The family lives together on a 5-acre farm east of Groveland where Maddalena grew up immersed in 4H activities raising livestock.
Maddalena’s father Randy appreciates the role of their local community in teaching his daughter strong social skills in shooting from a young age. Recently in Chile with Maddalena for the 2023 Pan Am Games events, Randy fondly recalls her reminding him of the Grizzlies junior shooting team practices where she got her start.
Sagen’s father said he watched his daughter shooting Wednesday in Santiago.
“There are small flags set up along each shooting lane to show the wind direction,”
Randy Maddalena said.
“The flags were generally showing a steady wind during the match, but at one point, the flags started to flutter like the wind couldn’t make up its mind.”

While Maddalena topped the podium, the victory also secured Argentina’s Fernanda Russo the first Paris 2024 Olympics quota spot for their country.
