A 35-year-old Paralympian athlete named Trevon Jenifer will compete for the United States in the next Paralympics in Paris in 2024. He previously competed for the United States of America in the Paralympics in 2012, 2016, and 2020, where he took home two gold and one bronze medal.
His lower body was absent from birth. He followed and achieved his goal of representing his nation by working hard.
Going for his third straight gold, Trevor qualifies for Paris Paralympics 2024
Trevon Jenifer is going for his third gold medal in a row. He has qualified for the 2024 Paralympics in Paris. This will be his fourth time at the Paralympic Games. Jenifer won gold at the 2023 Parapan American Games.
His medal collection includes three Paralympic medals – bronze in 2012, gold in 2016, and gold in 2020. He also has four Parapan Games gold medals from 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023. Jenifer has three World Championship medals too – gold in 2022, silver in 2018, and silver in 2014. The USA team won gold at the 2023 Parapan American Games in Chile. They beat Colombia 81-45. This victory helped the USA team qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

Trevon Jenifer was born on September 7, 1988. He is 35 years old. His parents are Constance Bullock and Eric Brown. Jenifer has three brothers named Paul, Marcus, and Jamar. He also has a sister named LaTarsha. Jenifer works for the U.S. Secret Service. His job is Personnel Security Specialist in the Security Management Division.
He has a unique job serving his country by working for the Secret Service. He also serves his country by being a Paralympic athlete. Jenifer learned about joining the Secret Service at an event for individuals. When Jenifer is not playing sports, working, or with family, he inspires others through motivational speaking.

Jenifer was born with a condition called congenital phocomelia. This meant he was born without legs. When growing up, he had trouble playing with friends who had legs. He says people bullied and threatened him a lot because of how his body looked.

He had to get used to rude behavior from people who tried to hold him back. However, his disability did not stop Jenifer. He kept going and chased his dream of representing his country and winning a medal. He wanted to show every person with a disability that anything is possible if you don’t give up hope

Trevon Jenifer is happily married to his very supportive wife Laura Klass. He gives credit to his wife and two children as his motivation through everything. The couple shares photos of each other on their Instagram accounts.
Jenifer won Paralympic medals twice, at the London and Rio games. He credits his success in sports and in life to his family and supporters.
How did Trevon start his Career as a Basketball player?
After seeing his brothers and sisters play different sports, Jenifer started playing wheelchair basketball at age 4 with teams in the Washington D.C. area. His sports journey began at 4 years old, playing wheelchair basketball and racing track for a team from Washington D.C. As a young kid, he was also a successful track athlete. In high school, he was an accomplished wrestler.
In 1992, Jenifer took part in Wheelchair Track and wheelchair basketball with New Life Inc. He holds American records for the 100, 200, 400, and 800 meters in the under-11 and under 14 age groups.
Switching to wrestling in high school, Jenifer placed third in the state of Maryland in his weight class. From 2004-2006, he wrestled at Huntingtown High School at 103 pounds. His first-year record was 17-18, placing 6th in the conference. In his second year, he went 2-8, placing 2nd in the conference, 2nd in regionals, and 3rd in Maryland. In 2006, Jenifer was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame for the Medal of Courage.
Jenifer transitioned back to wheelchair basketball, attending Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. There he became a two-time All-American and made his debut with Team USA. In 2009, after making the junior national team, Jenifer got his first look at Team USA. He qualified for the senior national team right after college and made his Paralympic debut a year later in London.

In 2010, Jenifer made the USA Men’s National Wheelchair basketball Team. He helped his team win the gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Then in 2012, he helped the team win the bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in London. This was the first medal for the Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team in 12 years.

From 2011-2013, Jenifer played for the Bay City team based in Erie, Pennsylvania. In the 2011-2012 season, he helped his team finish 2nd in the nation in Division 3 and was named to the First Team All-Tournament. He also helped his team finish 7th in the nation in Division 2 in 2012-2013.
In 2013-2014, Jenifer made his first appearance as a professional athlete playing for Le Cannet in France. He won the All-Tournament in the first part of the Euroleague and made the All-Star Team. He was part of the team that won the silver medal at the 2014 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Incheon, losing to Australia in the finals.
Jenifer competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and won the gold medal with the U.S. Men’s wheelchair basketball team. This was the first gold for the team in 28 years. He also participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where he won another gold medal, defending his title.
In total, Jenifer’s medal collection has three Paralympic medals (2012 bronze, 2016 gold, 2020 gold). He aims to stand on the podium again at the Worlds after helping win silver medals in 2014 and 2018. He was also part of the gold medal-winning Parapan American Games teams in 2011, 2015, and 2019.
